This Gucci “Icon Bit” Large

This Gucci Bag I am going to introduce is again an important component of Gucci Cruise 2010 Collection. This Gucci “Icon Bit” Large Tote is true to its name for it highlights several Gucci icons like horse-bit detail, D ring detail and studs detail. It is reasonable to say that the GG fabric is also an important icon of this luxury fashion brand. I suppose this bag will be another timeless bag style of Gucci. This Gucci “Icon Bit” Bag is designed in two styles, one is made from beige and ebony GG fabric that trimmed with brown leather trim, and the other is made from patent orange leather. As I see it, the GG fabric bag in typical Gucci pattern is timeless while the orange leather bag can be carried to anywhere anytime. You are the boss to choose the color. Just follow your heart. This Gucci Purse is not only elegant but also functional. Sized at 37 x 16 x 35 cm, the bag is large enough for daily using. Besides the large main compartment, it also has one outsize zip pocket and two inside zip pocket for holding mobile phone and PDA. The exterior zip pocket features horse-bit detail. Whether the bag is made from GG fabric or orange leather, its inside is made of Gucci crest cotton jacquard lining. The bag as a whole is closed by a magnetic snap closure and zip opening at sides. Its double handles with 18 cm drop ensures comfortably carrying or shouldering. We have a treat for your eyes! Hermes has become ubiquitous with the ultimate designer handbags. The luxury associated with Hermes is known worldwide, continues throughout the years and seasons, and transcends across generations. My collection of Hermes bags is small, but includes all Holy Grail bags for me; a Blue Jean Birkin, a Kelly Wallet in Orange Alligator, and my stunning white Kelly Longue. Next on my wishlist from the brand is a travel size bag. Something big, something to take for weekend trips, something reminiscent of what the brand is known for but offering a new shape to my collection. Top of my list is the Haut A Courroies, better known to the masses as the HAC. And the ultimate HAC from Hermes would be the crocodile HAC that was at Christie’s. Continue Reading

I have gone back and forth on the decision of the Hermes Lindy. The fact is, I love the bag but was not sure it is for me. My SA has had me try it on before and as I have been speaking with my SA we have realized that my next purchase should be a Lindy. The Hermes Lindy has become a house favorite as it offers a more casual feel with every sophisticated touch Hermes is known for. The Lindy features a double sided compartment for ease of separation and use, along with a center that collapses in while being carried. Last week in Saks Vlad and I saw a woman wearing a casual sundress paired with a Graphite Lindy. Everything about her outfit and look was perfect, and the Lindy truly finished it off! While I meticulously pick which color is good for me, I still have a dream Lindy, my holy-grail of Lindy’s. The Hermes Crocodile Lindy is what I call 100% drool worthy. Matte crocodile from the house of Hermes is divine, as it ages it develops the perfect gloss. The Lindy above is graphite 30 Lindy in ultra-supple matte niloticus crocodile. I can not control my love of the handbag when I see it, for every part of me wants it. But the closest I will get to that bag now is in my dreams, because the price is out of my budget. So while I carefully pick my next Hermes bag purchase, I will continue to yearn for the ‘too-expensive-right-now’ Hermes Crocodile Lindy. As Megs mentioned I am currently in LA and I have to say, it is wonderful out here. While Megs and Vlad watched our beloved Ohio State Buckeyes choke on tv, I was at the game with some roommates from college. We could barely believe our eyes, but, we have to give USC some credit – their team has quite a bit of talent! Either way, I couldn’t help myself from doing a little people watching. The USC fans were supporting their team while carrying some rather amazing handbags. I did notice a few bags that had a “punk” vibe going on. So, as I began thinking about what to write about today, I found a bunch of handbags that mimicked the look I saw at the game. I am all for a little lace here and there, but this Prada Pizzo S Satchel does nothing for me. The handbag is classified as punk, but it just looks like a decent idea went wrong. I can hardly appreciate the bag because every time I do look at it, all I see is the lace overlay. You know, now that I think about it, if the bag had less lace, it would be a total hit. Furthermore, I could see the lace getting snagged from daily wear and tear. But, at the same time, yes, I can see the punk vibe. I haven’t see anyone sporting this handbag out here, but maybe I will soon.

The idea behind some of

Hot from the fall runway collection, this Prada bag is edgy and trendy to boot. The idea behind some of the fall bags for Prada is to add extra zippers, stud detailing, faded leather, which gives off a bold modern vibe. The Prada Glace Zippers Tote is available in either ardresio/talco (brown/tan) or black leather with tonal topstitching. The focal point are the zippers that run down the entire side of the bag. There are top handles and a removable shoulder strap. When I first saw this bag on the Neiman Marcus website I thought it was drab. But the picture shown above was taken by Neiman Marcus and really showcases the bag much better. Dimensions are 12 1/5″H x 13 2/5″W x 5 1/2″D. Once again Gucci has used the bamboo decoration detail in making handbags, and this time the bamboo embellishment element is trimmed on the grey crocodile handbag. You could imagine the high-tech crafted bamboo and wild crocodile leather combined bag to be extremely hefty. Surely it is only available at a price of $15500. The Gucci “New Bamboo” top handle bag with tassels and bamboo detail is made from grey crocodile and cotton linen lining and over the crocodile is trimmed with grey leather and nickel hardware. I like this medium sized handbag very much. It measures 14.2 inches long, 6.3 inches wide and 8.7 inches high. The medium sized handbag is very suitable for daily carrying. The Gucci bag has inside zip and snap pocket and inside mirror with Gucci script logo. It features exquisite flap and bamboo turn-lock closure. By the way, the bag can be worn in two styles one is hand carried via single bamboo handle with 5 inches drop, the other is shouldered with one of the two detachable shoulder straps in plain leather and braided leather with metal chain. The 17.7 inches drop strap surely would be long enough for shouldering.

A new fringe bag that has sparked all sort of debate is the Prada Fringe Tote that I once really despised and then decided I liked *on Victoria Beckham*. Between those stars are the key words. Blasphemy some shouted! But can any of us help the fact that VB looks beyond stunning in nearly anything that goes on her body?? She has that curse, and I would definitely take on that curse if anyone asked me to. But this new little rendition has me in and my opinion will surely not change at any time. Appearing as if it is straight from an episode of That 70′s Show, the Prada Napa Messenger Bag is straight up fugilicious. Sure the Prada name is flung onto this Napa leather bag, but the fringed shoulder strap is a hideous attempt at bringing fringe sexiness back. The only shot they have at making this bag partially appealing is the fact that the fringe shoulder strap is detachable. This means that when the richest of the rich happen to have a dress up 70′s theme party the bag will suit them, and then one day, they can take the monstrosity of a fringe strap off and give it to their pure bred pup as a chew toy. This Gucci Bag I am going to introduce is again an important component of Gucci Cruise 2010 Collection. It seems as though our readers’ interest in and opinions of Louis Vuitton handbags are nearly unending, so when I saw a pictures of a select few of the brand’s Fall 2010 handbags, I couldn’t wait to share my favorite with you: the Louis Vuitton Cuir Grainé Doctor’s Bag. It was clear as soon as the brand’s Fall/Winter 2010 show hit the runway that the collection’s tone was to be much more subdued and mature than the neon foxtail charms and graffiti-layered monogram that has characterized the Vuitton aesthetic as of late, but seeing one of the show’s key bags in such stark relief hammers the point home. These are not your grandmother’s Louis Vuitton bags, but the two eras might have a few things in common. The Internet and luxury have always been sort of mutually exclusive. The Internet is broad, democratic, and welcomes all kinds; it has changed the way that consumers interact with corporations in fundamental ways that are constantly evolving. Luxury brands are narrow, elitist, and target a very specific clientele. They require a bit of mystery and aloofness in order to be aspirational and make their traditional brand identities work, and they’re generally not interested in changing how their companies interact with…well, anyone. “The way it has always been done” is idealized and worshiped in an almost religious way, and even though many below-the-surface practices have evolved in recent years (most notably, manufacturing), the way that brands want you to perceive them has remained largely untouched for decades. But the problem with this whole Internet thingamabob is that it’s kind of insidious and it’s changing the way that people of a variety of incomes and social standings shop and inform themselves about potential purchases. Fashion shows are no longer private events for an elite group of celebrities, editors, and clients; they’re presentations of goods that can often be seen in their entirety by average customers within minutes of their completion. There may be exclusivity left in the invitation to attend a show, but not in the information that one gains by attending.

I grew up mostly living in parts of Florida. We may get a winter ‘chill’, but it is clearly nothing like a true northern winter. So when I choose The Ohio State University as my college of choice, I had no idea what I was in for. Note to any warm weather climate person about to embark on college somewhere with a true winter: anything you thought would be a winter jacket is not. You should have seen the ‘jackets’ I bought for the cold weather. They were glorified wind-breakers that kept me literally freezing. I did not understand what nature had in store for me. One of the coats I distinctly remember buying was actually rather ghastly to look at. And it also did not keep me warm enough (it was cheap). It was made with shearling. Unfortunately for Prada, the Prada Shearling Hobo does nothing other than remind me of the shearling coat I owned in college. And that is not speaking in Prada’s favor. My love for the Burberry check pattern ended a few years ago. I went from love love loving it, to just thinking it was ok, to not liking it much at all. There are a few reasons, one being that it gets old fast. Another being that similar to the LV Monogram, the Burberry Nova Check pattern is counterfeited very often. Be wary of Burberry bag deals, many will be fakes. Recently I fell head of heels in love with the Burberry Belted Leather Tote and that got my thought pattern back on checking our Burberry Bags. And as much as the check pattern is so over for me, I also am still drawn to it when Burberry can reinvent it some. That is precisely why I love the Burberry Shimmer Tote which is overhauled with the classic plaid pattern in shades of gray cotton with a touch of Lurex shimmer. The bag is quite simple, just cotton trimmed with leather. But it is such a great fall bag. Actually, it has me thinking of fall outfits so much that I am intensely missing having four seasons rather than sunshine year round. The other perk is the double top handles or detachable shoulder strap, which you all know I love the option of the two. There is a zip top and one large inside pocket and a cell phone and PDA pocket.

While shopping at Walgreens today, I felt an intense sense of happiness over all of the Easter candy. Actually, any holiday-themed candy gets me giddy. I love Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, but I always love the tree, heart, and egg shape more. I guess it is my inner child. Right when I laid eyes on the Prada Raso Pietre Clutch in Turchese my mind immediately thought candy (the jelly bean or Cadbury Mini Eggs variety). Do you see that too? I am pleasing to see Gucci innovated on its Pelham Bags with the straw materials which is in the vague for this spring and summer seasons. This Gucci New Pelham Large Shoulder Bag would surely adds the stylish glamour and sophistication to your overall appearance. And if you are tired of the GG prints, this Gucci is a fresh choice. This gucci bags warm-weather tote combines natural straw and yellow leather with gold-tone trimming to make it look sophisticated and elegant. It may be casual but still, there remains the elegance that is sure to reflect on your façade. The yellow leather is present as trimming on top, on the handles and on the leather tab detail with buckle embellishments throughout the front and back. The straw material then goes on the entire body, which somehow makes this resemble to a basket. With dimensions of 22 x 10 x 6 inches, this gucci new pelham large shoulder bag should indeed carry some of your vacation essentials. Horsebit detail, embossed gucci script logo, and studs in natural straw with yellow leather trim and brass hardware Double straps with 7 9/10″ drop Flap closure and bottom feet Inside zip pocket. The pint sized Eva Longoria Parker packs quite a bubbly punch. When I see her, she usually makes me smile. Then again, if I stood next to her I would probably cry. If you have seen pictures of her next to a ‘normal’ sized person, she looks like she comes from a completely different planet. She is tiny tiny, and full of energy, and always smiles. That is the kind of person you love and hate at times (just jealousy). If I would have been asked the perfect Hermes Birkin for Eva Longoria I would have named something bright, fun, and charismatic, in other words, a bag that perfectly fits her personality. Looks like Eva is able to figure out what suits her fancy without me though, as she has been seen carrying the perfect Eva Longoria Birkin; a Hermes 30 cm Fuchsia Croc Birkin with Palladium Hardware. This Birkin radiates beauty and I am sure if we got to see it in person it would put a smile on our faces. It is too bad the photogs were so consumed just snapping Eva and focusing on her face, because they were not able to capture the true beauty of her handbag. But we know it is stunning, it is a hue of pink only Hermes can pull off. And in porosus (shiny croc), the color just pops out and grabs your attention. With Hermes set to report a 30% revenue increase for the third quarter, it’s not difficult to understand why LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault has such a keen interest in the company. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the increase centers on the success of the silk, leather and timepieces categories, which make up the backbone of the Hermes tradition and represent the company’s most sought-after products. All told, family representitives believe Hermes may be on track to have its most successful year in company history. So not only has Hermes weathered bad economic times in a profitable, growth-minded way, but this report also makes it clear that the growth was not a coincidence or the result of a temporary tactic. Instead, it represents real consumer interest in the things that Hermes does best, which only portends more future growth and gains in market share for the French luxury giant. WWD specifically mentions the success of the crossbody Jypsiere bag as being a cornerstone of Hermes’s continued growth, and giving fans of the brand a new bag to obsessively collect surely increases sales. With new creative director Christophe Lemaire scheduled to make his debut for Fall/Winter 2011, only time will tell what the company’s next handbag move will be. What would you like to see from Hermes in the future?

Of epic proportions

February 15th, 2012 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

The Gucci Tribeca Medium Shoulder Bag is a disaster. Of epic proportions. And that’s coming from someone that normally really likes Gucci, even when they get a bit wacky with their designs. I usually understand what they’re up to, but here…there just are no words. It’s a big bag with a skinny, tiny strap – bad proportions! It’s got a textured heart inset placed randomly on the front – icky! And it’s got a big ol’ tattoo design in the tradition of the geniuses (and I say that facetiously) over at Ed Hardy right smack dab in the middle. Eww. I’ve heard rumblings of unhappiness with the Cruise collection over in our Gucci section on the forum, but I figured it would still have some redeeming qualities to most of the bags. Some of them aren’t so bad, but this? This is bad. I say this out of love, Gucci. I want you to make beautiful things. So please, for Spring, try harder As a slavish fan of the Tom Ford era at Gucci, I’ve got to say that Spring 2010 is easily the best collection we’ve seen from current designer Frida Giannini. Instead of the girly, at times hippie-chic clothes that have come out of her tenure at the company so far, what we saw this season was modern, athletic, and a tad science fiction. Normally those would be words from which I would shy away as descriptors of beautiful clothing, but the high-waist leggings, voluminous jackets and body-conscious dresses make sci fi chic and aspirational – if only Ra’mon from Project Runway had made something like this on last week’s episode, he might not have been auf’d. But he didn’t, and Frida did, because there’s a reason that she’s employed by one of the largest and most recognizable luxury brands in the world. She started, as has proven popular this season, with white (it would be a full nine looks before another color appeared) and slowly moved herself into light greys before going for bolder books in black, orange, and even a little bit of pink. Print was limited mostly to ikat here and there on smart shift dresses, and the majority of looks were solid and neutral.

Gucci jumped the luxury gun by sponsoring the Gucci Masters on Dec. 14th, at the Parc des Expositions in Villepinte, near Paris. Over the four-day event, Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, gave a glamorous sheen to international equestrians, who included the tennis star-turned-horsewoman, Martina Hingis. No one could call Gucci an upstart when it comes to the horse culture. The legendary bar-and-bit symbols on shoes and bags trace their origins back to the founding of the brand in 1921. And Frida Giannini, Gucci’s creative director, has had a long love affair with ponies. Gucci evolved into an urban brand when Tom Ford focused on sex and rock ’n’ roll (and famously painted his country tractor black to match his shiny leather shoes). Now there is a whole horsy universe to recover, along with the loafter culture, which Gucci ceded to Tod’s in the 1990s. I’m sure you’ve been taught about the early ancestors of the modern homo sapiens sapiens either in biology or later by watching the Discovery Channel. I’m sure also remember from Kubrick’s 2001 the 35 minute intro where the ape people eventually discovered the true functionality of large and heavy animal bones – to beat the others to pulp. There is a point that I am trying to make, so bear with me. You see, sometimes there is just that one bag that I can imagine awakens any female’s primal instincts, specifically the most basic of them all – gaining the edge over the next woman and showing her who’s the boss! Thou shalt not covet anything that is thy neighbor’s.? Screw the bitch, gimme my bag. Beat it for what it’s worth! Either way, my point is that I can see many of you ladies just going ape sh*t over the Gucci Logo Weave Shoulder Bag. Yes, this is the bag that makes you disregard potential jail time!

I think

February 14th, 2012 | Uncategorized | No Comments »

Folks, we’ve done it. I think. Maybe I’m being optimistic. But, with the advent of the Louis Vuitton Card Deck Set, I think it may be possible for someone with enough money and enough dedication to go through their entire day without deigning to use a product that’s not luxury branded. We’ve covered Chanel and Hermes bicycles, Gucci makes wallpaper, Fendi makes bedding, Versace makes furniture. And now, your husband won’t just be playing poker with the guys, he’ll be playing Louis Vuitton poker. And that won’t get him made fun of by his buddies AT ALL, I promise. Eluxury promises that this set includes three “luxurious” decks of cards, so please, help me brainstorm in the comments – exactly how does one make playing cards luxurious? The first thing that came to my mind was having the symbols ever so carefully covered in close-cropped mink, making them slightly furry. How would you do it? Let’s talk some Burberry today. For a light start, we got the Burberry Luggage Tags for $130.00. A ridiculous amount of money, considering you can get generic tags for a buck fiddy or the free paper ones at the airline ticket counter. Still, if you don’t know what to do with your money, and you already spend several G’s on a full Louis luggage set, you might as well spend another half a grand on these tags to round off the luxurious bunch. They come in sets of two, in either Jacquard Canvas or Metallic Leather and can be ordered right here. If you ladies want to treat your man with something that’ll make him stand out at the weekly golf outing with his buddies at the range, get him this Burberry Bag set. For just under $500, you get a carry-all bag for all of his misc golf equipment, along with a useful seperate shoe compartment. The signature black check nylon canvas on lightweight, shower-resistant polyester assure that moisture, dirt and mud stay where they belong.

When you’re a major bag fan, you start to pic up on the subtle idiosyncrasies of major designers – the way that they attach handles, the types and colors of hardware that they tend to use, the shape of their corners and finish of their leathers. All of those things form subtle trademarks for a brand over time, and the more bags you look at, the more you instinctually search for those markers in every design. And that’s what strikes me as strange about the Marc Jacobs Luisa Shoulder Bag. When I saw it without any name attached, I thought that perhaps it was Oscar de la Renta or maybe even one of Lanvin’s more streamlined pieces, but it’s not. Instead, the bag is from Marc Jacobs, the reality of which still surprises me. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing. While looking at this bag, Vlad’s first comment was, “Why is that picture in black and white?” Nice to see that I turned him into such a fashion guru. I had to inform him that the colors were indeed the color the bag was meant to be. I think it’s stunning. The Gucci Evening Frame Bag is the definition of purse sophistication. The bag comes with chain straps, a push-lock closure, the circular Gucci charm on the outside, and an inside pocket (which must be very small by the look of things). The dimensions are 7.7 x 1 x 4.5 inches. Unfortunately for me, my wallet, and my man, I of course drew a liking to the most expensive version of this bag. Hey, what can I say- it’s a skill. The bag that features dark grey metal fringes and silver hardware will most likely make you cringe at the price tag: $5950 (all I can say is good thing they didn’t round up to $6000). Gasp! How I wish I could have this bag! There is also a version with black suede with black baroque embroidery, black lizard trim, and silver hardware which goes for $1595. Next a version with black tulle and black crystals with silver hardware which costs $1950. And lastly the bag can be done in dark blue velvet with black flower embroidery and silver hardware for the cheapest of them all $1195. If I had my choice

Ciao bella, come stai? So, I may have not retained a great deal of the Italian that I took in college, and I certainly didn’t learn anymore last week since I, sadly, I did not go to Milan fashion week. I do, however, have the Internet, which means that my lack of Italian (and lack of Italian vacation) is NOT going to stop me from telling you guys about Milan Fashion Week, starting with Gucci. I know that many have criticized the post-Tom Ford era at the brand as less exciting and less innovative, but I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for Frida Giannini’s (pictured left) reign – I think her subdued sex appeal and color choice is often brilliant, even if it’s not as aggressive. The clothes aren’t overly high-concept, but they are exceedingly wearable and have a great deal of influence on what ends up in the stores that you and I frequent. So what did Frida give us? Continue Reading Over dinner a couple of weekends ago, a friend asked me if it ever felt silly to write about fashion in the wake of human and environmental disasters like the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan. And, truth be told, it can feel a little bit silly at times, just as I imagine most people who work in non-public service jobs feel when confronted with such a devastating world event. Things like fashion churn on nonetheless, and sometimes (although probably not as often as we could), we even find a way to help the planet at large. Net-a-Porter recently teamed up with Vogue and a slew of amazing designers to coordinate the Runway to Green project, which included a charity auction and fashion show on March 29 and also features a limited edition run of Fall 2011 pieces available on Net-a-Porter.com for a limited time, all of which benefit a number of environmental charities. Our favorite pieces? The Prada Textured Leather Tote and Prada Mary Jane Boots, of course.

But sometimes going away from the ordinary can make something extraordinary. The Burberry Leather Pocket Shoulder Bag manifests itself in divine beauty and simplicity. Made from pebbled leather along with a side buckle and shackle details, this bag will have you simply intrigued. Perfectly fitting, the bag is accented with brass hardware. I see this bag being quite the perfect day bag for so many posh ladies out there. For carrying there is a single shoulder strap with a drop of 11.5″. Right in the center you will find the turn lock flap closure that comes from the zip top. This turn lock is snuggled in perfectly between the two exterior pockets. Inside, this bag boasts two open pockets, a zip pocket, and canvas lining. A bit different than so many Burberry bags out there

The Gucci Boston Bag is seen as one of the iconic bags from the house of Gucci. While Gucci has lost some of its wow factor recently, there are still loyal followers of the brand and the Boston bag remains in the forefront. With the familiar shape, comes a familiar bag, the Gucci Horsebit Nail Medium Boston, that adds a new causal touch with its plush white leather and nail details. There is a very equestrian feel to the bag, offering Gucci’s signature horsebit detailing on the front and leather pulls on the sides. This bag is appealing and redeems a little of what Gucci has lost.We first caught a glimpse of Prada’s knitted leather during the brand’s Fall/Winter 2010 runway show in March, and I’ve been hungrily awaiting their arrival at retail ever since. Well, they’re here! Almost. Prada has close-up pictures of a few styles and colors on its website, and these Prada Knitted Leather Clutches in particular do not disappoint. Sadly, my favorite color combination isn’t pictured, but if you imagine the one on the right with red instead of tan, you get the idea. The main thing that I’m taking away from this first look, however, is that I’m surprised by how much I like the black version – you don’t lose as much of the sense of texture as I had assumed when the design is rendered in a single, dark color. The clutch will retail for $2600 once it arrives in store. Larger pictures of both, after the jump.

When I was a little girl, I remember my first trip to London. For some reason all of the women (and men!) wearing Burberry really still sticks out in my mind. I wasn’t aware that it was a super designer brand, but I remember tugging on my mom and telling her I wanted something like it to. My mom informed me that a girl my age didn’t need something like that. What is that about? Depriving your child from something like Burberry??! JK mom, I won’t still hold it against you. But with time, the checkered pattern started to un-grow on me (yes, as in the opposite of grow). I guess it became too plentiful, although I still love my cashmere scarf from them. When I saw this bag, it didn’t call out to me like Burberry has in the past, but I still felt drawn to it. From the Burberry Prorsum Handbag line, I seem to have a liking to the Burberry Heather Suede Bag. This little number is made olive suede and is accented with a brown leather adjustable strap and brown leather trim. For a little more accenting, there is brass hardware that looks more like vintage gold than brass. Just in case you want to carry your pet hermit crab that needs to keep warm this fall, the inside is lined in wool flannel. The dimensions are 13 1/2″ x 7″ x 4″. We’ve had some harsh words to say over the past month or so about Prada‘s fall handbag collection. Some of them are covered in fur, some of them are unfortunate combinations of velvet and nylon, and a lot of them look a little “grandma.” As a result, I’m not sure if I’m being more charitable to the Prada Craquele Tote than I would be otherwise. It’s easy to argue that it’s a pretty decent bag when compared to the line’s other fall offerings, though. For those of you who celebrated Christmas yesterday, I hope it was a good one. Santa thought I was a nice girl this year so I am smiling. And Vlad must have thought I was really nice this year too, because he treated me with a beautiful Dior wallet!! (pics to come ). For those of you who got some money to spend, why not jump right into the search for a perfect bag (or for those of you who have yet to celebrate this holiday season). For those of you who love the classic check pattern of Burberry, but also love some simplicity, the Burberry Leather Hobo Bag is quite appealing. This bag shows off a small check trim which lines the leather hobo bag. The bag is available in black, white, and cognac. Personally, I really like all three options. The simplicity of this bag is pulled together with a leather tab with a snap and button closure. Keepin’ it classy as usually, Burberry uses brass hardware to accent this bag. On the inside you will find a zip pocket and canvas lining and a cell phone pocket. This bag is not too big, not too small: 10″ x 8″ x 3″. I do wonder how the bag will fit under your arm and hang, because we all know we don’t want some good looking awkward fitting bag under our arm. But I do know that this Burberry handbag is a classy option if you are looking for a practical leather bag.

Today is the attack of the brown bags! So you all better enjoy their chocolately goodness. I’m just in the mood for some different brown bags and this way you can chose which one you like the best. Right now let’s focus our attention to the Gucci Medium Hobo. Before anyone jumps down anyone’s throat (including my own)- this is simply a style of a bag and none of us personally killed the rabbits being used for this. So Gucci is one of my favs. I love my Large Horsebit Hobo, and I just love many of their styles and designs. This hobo is made of chocolate laser-cut rabbit with chocolate leather trim and bamboo details. I love the shape, I love the color, I love the bamboo, and I happen to love the fur.Logo bags are kind of five minutes ago, right? They’ve been kind of five minutes ago for a couple of years now. But despite the fact that I’ve never been a big fan of bags with branding all over them, I’ve always had a soft spot for Gucci. I like the pattern that their traditional logo fabric creates, and I like how it looks when it’s embossed into their Guccissima leather. I think it works because even if it didn’t serve as a logo, it would still be a fairly simple and attractive pattern. And that’s why I like the Gucci New Jackie Guccissima Shoulder Bag. Last season when the New Jackie came out, I wrote about how much I like the functional and comfortable shape of the bag, and that hasn’t changed a bit. When you combine super soft, matte leather with the Guccissima embossed logo, it provides great texture without having to mess with the bag’s structure or premise. The color of this bag seals the deal for me – grey is an enormous, important color for Fall 2009, and this grey is a perfect, blue-undertoned, medium grey that will go with almost anything in the average woman’s wardrobe. It’s mighty expensive for regular leather, thought, which is a major deterrent for me adding it to my wardrobe

I mean waaay in style

If we are up to date with our fall fashion, like we should be, we all know that shearling is ‘in’. I mean waaay in style. But just because you are a high end designer with a well-known name, it doesn’t mean that each of your bags will be a hit even if they implement the looks of the season. The Gucci Large Shearling Tote simply does not do it for me. Granted I have not yet seen this bag in person, but from the looks of it the bag does not look beige- rather the color you would see when you open up a baby’s diaper. The entire tote is monogrammed with the Gucci GG logo on the beige shearling and is trimmed in beige leather. This tote is also a pretty nice size: 10 3/4″H x 13 3/4″W x 5 3/4″D, but I’d still really rather pass. One of my main beliefs about handbag design is that really intricate, busy complicated ideas work best in very small doses. That may seem counterintuitive, since usually the scale of the idea should match the scale of the canvas, but this little theory of mine has proven itself true again and again. The Marc Jacobs Studded Python Single and the similarly-patterned version of the Marc Jacobs Stam are only the latest example. When I first saw this look on the much-larger Stam, I was totally disappointed. I love the combination of red and black for a lot of reasons, not least of which because it’s the color scheme of my alma mater (Go Dawgs!), and I’d love to have a football-appropriate bag from one of my favorite designers. On the Stam, however, the combination of stamped python, multiple colors, quilting and studs was way too much.

On Friday night my parents had a dinner party that Vlad and I attended. Of course all of my moms friends know that I am the ‘bag lady’ and many times they ask me what I think of their handbag. The same handbag-loving-friend of my mom who carried the Michael Kors Watchband Clutch to the last event we saw her at was again carrying a new stunner. As she walked in the house and greeted us, my eyes were drawn to her Prada bag and as I stared at the bag I instantly fell in love. She was carrying the Prada Stripes Multicolor Small Hobo in the turquoise-violet combination which looked divine and really was the perfect size. The small version adds the right amount of color splash and spunk, while not taking away from the overall outfit or look. The leather is supple Nappa, which is smooshy to the touch and perfect to showoff the colors. The top handle and shoulder strap are detachable, but I loved this being carried with the small top handle. Dimensions are 9½”W X 7″H X 3½”D. I first posted about the Prada Trembled Blossoms Bag and found it captivating yet pricey for the small size.I have never had a strong affinity to brown. Which baffles my mind since brown looks less harsh against my blond hair, blue eyes, medium color skin. It is not that I am a huge lover of black, but I really just float around in the color world. But I need a new brown bag. One of my last brown bags was my Fendi Spy (yes 2.5 years ago), in honey, which is a perfect shade. And now I have found my new brown bag obsession, and am quite surprised that it is a Burberry Bag. Burberry is synonmous with its check pattern, which many tire of quickly. I like it here and there, loved my Burberry scarf, but I can only handle it in doses. When Burberry creates a stunning leather bag and leaves the check pattern to the interior lining, they can end up with a fabulous handbag. And this is precisely what has happened with the Burberry Belted Leather Tote. The pebbled calfskin looks soft in pictures, which typically means that it is indeed sumptuous. What I love about this bag is the casual look, the belted accent which gives such a nonchalant finish. No need for crazy amounts of hardware, like in the Burberry Warrior, just simple with a nice touch. This look has me feeling fall already, it will be perfect with hues of green, purple, and brown. The golden hardware is a much better option than silver, giving a refined feeling, which I always feel in fall. Don’t you see that? The long coats and boots dress people up in the fall, making an effortlessly chic ensemble.
